Artist Statement

As a ceramist artist, I started to experiment with different types of clays until I spent nearly five years in residency in Jingdezhen, China; there, I worked exclusively with porcelain, the medium I still prefer today. Playing with basic shapes and lines, I create sculptural objects and wall features, mostly painted under the influence of my love for the chinese “Qinghua” blue and white cobalt paint. I search inspiration in the memories of the happy and curious moments of my life, trying to tell a story of an encounter, a discovery, and reproduce a feeling of what made me, me.

My artworks are also shaped by the great influence of my cultural family heritage: a little chaotic way of living coming from a Vietnamese grandmother, an Italian inclination for story telling, a French romantic and a need of striving for perfection that my husband calls my Swiss side. But I am still a dreamer taking inspiration from the diverse places I lived in, especially Gabon and China, where I developed a fascination for tribal patterns and line flows. To witness that the objects I create have an influence on others, bringing them to reflect and connect with their emotions, would feel fulfilling to my purpose. I would like to think that my art is bringing lightness and happiness into people’s life.
